Sand Lake Disposal Site

The Sand Lake disposal site is located on Sand Lake Road and accepts construction material waste such as peat, clay and ground trees, which are used to fill in an old gravel pit.

Our Sand Lake Disposal Site is permitted as a “Clean Fill Site" and excludes any contaminated materials. AS&G cannot accept any fill materials from any project that originates at the AIA Airport, Merrill Field, the Port of Anchorage or any site that has been designated as a contaminated site by ADEC.

Prohibited Materials

   Prohibited Materials:

  • Building materials, lumber, pallets ect. ect.
  • Debris, paper, signs, or refuse of any kind.
  • Poly or plastic products.
  • Insulation or fabrics.
  • Metal or plastic pipe
  • Used appliances or furniture.
  • Car parts or used tires.
  • Batteries.
  • Asphalt pavement.
  • Petroleum products of any kind including the following: Gasoline, Diesel, Bunker fuel, Jet fuel, Liquid asphalt, Used oil, Motor oil, Solvents, Paints or paint thinners.
  • Chemicals and any materials with high levels of Lead, Chromium, or Arsenic.
  • Hazardous waste as listed and defined by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) or the Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation (ADEC).
  • Polychlorinated Biphenys (PCBs).

Acceptable Materials:

  • Gravel, silt, sand, soil, clay, peat and hydroaxed materials.
  • Concrete demolition and concrete block demolition without rebar will be accepted.
  • Concrete demolition and concrete block demolition with wiremesh and rebar will be accepted so long as the wiremesh and rebar are cut off flush with the concrete.
  • Trees and brush will be accepted so long as they are cut in sections not greater than 6 feet and are mixed with excavation from the job site.
Delivery & Advanced Notice

Delivery

We accept delivery of materials with end dumps, semi - end dumps, side dumps, and end dumps with pups. NO material shall be delivered with belly dumps.

Advance Notice

Contractor will notify AS&G in advance of their plans to make delivery to the Fill Site and furnish notice of the days of delivery, including start-up time and shut-down time.

Hours of Operation

Standard Summer operation hours at the Sand Lake Disposal Site are

Monday - Friday
8 am - 4 pm

However, we extend those hours from 7 am until 5 pm and/or 6 pm and include Saturdays with prior arrangements depending on your project requirements. There will be no Sunday or night operations since Sundays and night operations are excluded in our fill site permit.

Winter operations from November 1 through April 15 are determined on a day by day and/or week by week basis; and are dependent on weather conditions and your particular project requirements. There is an additional charge per cubic yard for winter operations. 

Weather Shut Down: Due to changing weather conditions, the fill site may be shut down due to rain or muddy conditions at the fill site. AS&G cannot guarantee the site for disposal of any exact quantities, or for any daily operations under these conditions.

Fill Site Agreement
Prior to hauling and disposal of any materials at the Sand Lake Disposal Site, you will need to complete the Sand Lake Agreement. Please sign page 5 of each Agreement and return a copy to AS&G including a signed copy of your Sand Lake Disposal Site Job Quote.
